Visit this historic home for the holidays!

The Abraham Staats House will be decked out in festive finery and hosting a number of musical programs for the Holiday at the Abraham Staats House! Built c. 1740, the house was home to the Dutch Staats family for nearly two centuries and is now under the care of the Borough of South Bound Brook. In recognition of its historic value, the house is listed on the NJ State and National registers of Historic Places.

On Dec. 5 & 6 the Abraham Staats House will be open at no charge to the public from 1 pm – 4 pm. Come view the decorated rooms of the house, festively and individually decorated by local organizations including Boy Scout Troop 42 & Cub Scout Pack 42, Reformed Church of Bound Brook, South Bound Brook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Students of Robert Morris School, the Women’s Guild of South Bound Brook and Friends of the Abraham Staats House.

Stroll through the many rooms, learn about the history of the home, and get in the holiday spirit as you enjoy the seasonal decorations and holiday music of the 18th century played on the mountain and hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery, mandolin, and fiddle throughout throughout the event by Tom Harabin. On Saturday, Dec. 5, join us for the fabulous Franklin Township HS Madrigal Singers directed by Timothy Walton, starting promptly at 2 p.m., followed by the Somerville High School Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Matt Krempasky at 3 p.m.

(Please note: the sound of the musical programs will carry throughout the house; However, those who desire seating should come prior to performance start time: Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.)

The Abraham Staats House is located at 17 Von Steuben Lane, South Bound Brook, NJ 08880.
